Before we start reading you must:
1. Number every paragraph in each chapter. As there are so many editions of the book, I will refer to each paragraph by number e.g. Motive for Metaphor in paragraph 21; The Singing School in paragraph 1 etc.
2. The general reading strategy is to read the first few pages of each chapter to get a gist of what is going on. Then scan the chapter for the title of the chapter to find the meaning. Then we will go through the entire chapter with the chapter's meaning in mind.
3. Whenever possible, handouts, charts, graphic organizers will be used as we go along.
